E-mail - love it or hate it, its today’s way of communicating. In a relatively short space of time it’s become the de facto business communication tool too. But have you thought about how much its costing you?
Our reliance on e-mail communication has also spawned the concept of e-mail overload plaguing users and pressuring business to manage e-mail more effectively. Back in April 2008 already the New York Times was reporting that "E-MAIL has become the bane of some people’s professional lives" due to information overload.

GREEN, the stylish thing to say for anyone with an IT budget today…
I have met very many CIO’s and other IT folk over the last year, to more recent times, with a keen interest in exploring ways of turning their IT operations green or at best showing how their IT organisations are reducing their carbon footprint. It is quite interesting to think about this in more detail, and to try and understand what it essentially represents.
Stepping back and reassessing our market condition, it seems a daunting task. Business demands solutions that meet its operational efficiency objectives while also promoting a level of competitive advantage and innovative differentiation. Just when I you thought the role of IT was merely to keep the business running.
CIO: SaaS for South Africa

A growing number of South African CIOs we have interacted with, since I have been with Afrovation, have significant concerns about the impact of the latest wave of economic recession and its implications for their IT organisations. Our view is that it cannot be business as usual, CIOs have a limited amount of options, only two - either they proactively determine and drive their own response to the current economic challenges, or have these responses handed to them by their boards or companies or CEOs. We believe that the latter is not a viable option.
Therefore in forming their responses to the depressed economy, we believe that CIOs must run their IT organisations as lean as possible with the resources they have. The old “do more with less” concept needs to be a reality to all IT organisations today and in the future...
